Room 203 Learned Even More

After doing research on Philadelphia, the second graders also learned about Washington, DC.
Amaris wrote: “The District of Columbia was named after Christopher Columbus. The White House was originally called the Presidents Palace or the President’s House. The Supreme Court didn’t get a permanent home until 1932.”
Isaiah wrote: “Facts I learned about Washington include – Union Station was built in 1907 to accommodate the inaugural crowd coming. The state Dining Room can seat 140 dinner guests at one time. The capital was used to house soldiers during the Civil War. As you can see, I did a lot of work for this.”
